From Massage to Food Blog!

Listening to the sounds of spa music, while I lay warm, lazy, and relaxed, my hot stone massage therapist said, ‘Now just drift off to your happy place…….enjoy those thoughts and the relaxation for the next hour….’. My immediate thought went to laying next to my significant other….but then my thoughts wandered, as they always do,…..to FOOD. I love food….

Muy meh….

I love, no….really love Mexican food. Have I mentioned that already?! So I was really excited that La Bamba opened another restaurant in downtown Saskatoon in the old Sawadee building on 2nd Avenue (which I am sad to say, closed – such great Asian food!). The La Bamba on Boychuk Drive makes a great chile…

!Muy yum – en Saskatoon!

Queso fresco. Fresh corn tortillas. Pozole. Cilantro. Peppers. Avocado. Onions. Homemade salsa. All of this (and more!) can be found in Saskatoon’s newest Mexican gem…….Mi Tierra. Mi Tierra is a Mexican-owned restaurant on 22nd Street between Avenue U and V….and it is just what I expected – small and colorful, smiling-faced staff to greet you,…

Satiated Grouse!

Little Grouse on the Prairie – May 8, 2018 On a slightly overcast and windy spring evening, my mom and I headed into Little Grouse in downtown Saskatoon. The small, cozy (yet modern) room always feels so inviting and the front of house always has a smile on their face. A perfect way to start…

I’m back!

After almost a year away from this space, I’m ready to get writing about amazing food all over again. I had a busy and stressful year but still managed to eat in some of my favorite places, find a few new ones, and gobble up all that is perfect in Saskatoon. I’ve focused mostly on…

Uno Mas o…..mucho mas?!

After a full day of work and spin class, what could be better than tacos and margaritas with great friends?! Nothing. Except maybe more tacos and more margaritas. Sigh, I was driving and had to work the next day, so one round had to suffice. At a glance: Uno Mas is on 2nd Avenue in…

A meal fit for a king (of the road)!

This one is for my better half! He’s been asking for this one for a while, so it’s time I did it…. write about the amazing Husky gas station restaurant. That’s right, Husky! At a glance: He had to trick me into going for the first time….it’s in a gas station! Does it weird me…

Five Unexpected Mouth Wonders

One of my favorite things in this world is when a dish appears in front of me that is so delicious, in an unexpected way, that I actually stop talking (odd for me) and swear repeatedly (with a few side-mouthed omg’s thrown in). Of course, I order these dishes hoping for delicious food but sometimes there are…

Worlds Apart – Sticks and Stones and Milestones

Ok, I went to S&S again…for a third time. My co-worker said to me, why don’t you eat at different restaurants?! Ha! I do but this is a great place to eat and the friend I went with hadn’t been here yet. I also added last night’s dinner with my significant other at Milestones, however,…

Asia in Saskatoon! A Great Food Experience at Sticks and Stones

I have been looking so forward to going to Sticks and Stones since it opened in mid-April. S&S has the same management team as Ayden Kitchen & Bar and Little Grouse, so I was somewhat biased going in…and it did not disappoint!! When: Tuesday, May 2nd – 5:00pm (me, my mom, my son, and his…

A Cozy Evening at the Prairie Harvest Café

Another wonderful evening out for food and wine with my mom! When: March 23, 2017 – 5:30pm (my mom and I) At a glance: Cozy restaurant, tucked in between houses in a small building on Early drive (east side of Saskatoon), aged wood floors, old tables, old appliances, dated knick knacks and photos give it a farm or Prairie feel,…

Montana’s – Just Because ‘All-You-Can-Eat Ribs’

Because sometimes you’re just insanely hungry and want to eat nothing but meat….. When: March 3, 2017 – 6:00pm (my significant other and I) – McOrmond Drive location At a glance: Montana’s is a Canadian BBQ and bar chain restaurant but their ribs are amazing. Of course you can get steak, burgers, chicken, seafood, pasta, fajitas, salads, etc……but their pork…

A Hot Date at the Mardi Gras Grill ;)

Valentine’s day! Well, the day after, to avoid the crowded insanity that is Valentine’s Day….. When: Wednesday, February 15th, 2017 – 6:00pm (my significant other and I) At a glance: New Orleans/Louisiana style food in downtown Saskatoon (Idylwyld), laid back, open concept, older cinder-block building, it’s been featured on the show Prairie Diner (CityTV) Menu: so many…
